Three authors have filed a class-action lawsuit against Anthropic, an AI company, for allegedly using pirated versions of their works and others to train their chatbot Claude. The lawsuit joins several others filed by copyright holders against tech companies for misusing their work to train AI systems. Anthropic has been accused of seeking to profit from “strip-mining” human expression and ingenuity. Amazon has invested $4bn in Anthropic, which is an offshoot of OpenAI.
