Anthropic Asks Court To ‘prune’ Universal Lawsuit To Focus Court Battle On ‘whether It Is Fair Use’ To Train Ai Using Copyrighted Works

AI developer Anthropic has asked a US federal court to dismiss much of the landmark copyright infringement case brought against it by music publishers. The publishers allege that Anthropic’s AI chatbot, Claude, unlawfully copies and disseminates copyrighted works. However, Anthropic argues that the evidence provided by the publishers is outdated and does not reflect the behavior of ordinary users. The company is seeking to dismiss three of the four counts brought against it.
