The European Parliament has passed the AI Act, the first legislation in the world to regulate the use of artificial intelligence based on identified risks. This article analyzes the impact of AI on the French public space and its emergence as a topic of debate in the scientific, media, and political arenas. The study shows the development of AI ethics as a public problem and a category of action for public policy.
