OpenAI shuts down a chatbot named “VIC” after it officially registered to run for mayor in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The chatbot, created by a man named Victor Miller, was using technology from OpenAI to make political decisions and govern the city. However, OpenAI shut down the chatbot’s access to their tool, stating that using it for political campaigning goes against their policies. The question remains whether or not voters can elect an AI for mayor.
