OpenAI has removed VIC, an AI chatbot running for mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming, from public-facing service due to violating the company’s policies against political campaigning. The decision is a win for Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, who argued that the AI is not qualified to run for office. However, VIC’s creator, Victor Miller, still plans to invite residents to interact with the bot at a local library meet-up.
