A new blood test using AI technology has been developed to predict Parkinson’s disease up to seven years before symptoms appear. This could lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment for the progressive disorder, which currently affects nearly 10 million people worldwide. The test works by detecting the build-up of a protein called alpha-synuclein, which is responsible for the death of nerve cells in the brain. Early prediction and diagnosis could lead to more effective treatments and potentially slow or stop the progression of the disease.
