The US-China technology and trade war has led to the US imposing new technology controls on China, affecting the flow of high-end semiconductors and semiconductor-manufacturing equipment. In response, the European Commission has introduced the Chips Act to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in the semiconductor market and secure the continent from supply vulnerabilities. The Act includes measures such as investing in next-generation technologies, providing access for chip design and testing, and establishing certification procedures for energy-efficient and trusted chips.
