Alexandr Wang, CEO of artificial intelligence company ScaleAI, is working to help the U.S. military in its battle with China by providing AI tech to the Department of Defense. Scale’s chatbot, known as “Donovan,” is meant to summarize intelligence and help commanders make decisions faster. Wang believes that without AI developed by private tech companies, the United States won’t be able to maintain its technological edge over China. The U.S. military has made AI a key part of its strategy for the coming decades, laying out plans to field autonomous ships and planes to back up human-piloted machines, use algorithms to improve logistics by predicting maintenance needs, and more.
