U.K. doctor David Watkins has been a public critic of Babylon Health for years, voicing his concerns about the company’s AI technology. After Babylon collapsed, a former employee also publicly declared that the AI engine was faulty. Watkins believes that Ali Parsa, the company’s CEO, should be held accountable for the company’s misrepresentation of its technology. Babylon was founded in 2013 and offered virtual primary care, including telehealth appointments and chatbot-style symptom checkers. The company went public in 2021, but its financial situation was tenuous in the years that followed. Babylon shuttered its U.S. headquarters last month after its rescue merger fell apart and agreed to sell most of its assets to eMed Healthcare via a bankruptcy process.
