ChatGPT from OpenAI is an AI application that has reached an impressive level of maturity, capable of responding to questions with answers that are difficult to distinguish from human-generated text. This makes the AI system interesting for a variety of uses in companies, from marketing to the automation of processing customer inquiries and the generation of media content. However, caution is called for due to the lack of transparency, such as from which sources the chatbot generates its answers. Dr. Maximilian Poretschkin from Fraunhofer IAIS is developing testing tools and procedures to assess AI applications in terms of their reliability, fairness, robustness, transparency, and data protection.
