Medical NLP is in the early stages of adoption, but as healthcare organizations continue to struggle with unstructured data and clinician burnout, its use will gradually increase. AI and deep learning models are being developed to be used in healthcare in the future, and will be integrated into EHRs. Every time a physician or nurse practitioner sees a patient, they create a document in the form of unstructured text. This data is important, but can only be used if read by another human, leading to clinician burnout.
