ChatGPT, an AI-chatbot created by U.S.-based OpenAI, has become a popular craze in China, with an estimated 100 million monthly active users two months after launching in November. However, the product is not available in China due to the government’s internet firewall. In response, domestic companies have released and tested alternative products, such as Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi Qianwen and Kunlun Tech’s Tiangong. Both products are invite-only and have received over 200,000 requests from businesses to test the tech.
