The European Commission’s digital, defense and trade chiefs have prepared a list of critical technologies that the EU wants to protect from rivals. The document contains 10 technologies, with four of those highlighted by Brussels as particularly dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands or if the EU remains too dependent on a rival such as China. These four areas are Advanced Semiconductor technologies, Artificial Intelligence technologies, Quantum technologies, and Biotechnologies. China is not named in any of the documents, but is referred to as “the EU’s Voldemort”.
