EPFL scientists have developed a new way to teach a quantum computer how to understand and predict the behavior of quantum systems. This method, called quantum neural networks (QNNs), uses principles inspired by quantum mechanics to mimic the behavior of quantum systems. The researchers found that with just a few simple examples, called ‘product states’, the computer can learn how a quantum system behaves even when dealing with entangled states. This breakthrough brings us closer to a new era of quantum computing.
