Emergency management teams are increasingly deploying technologies such as drones, sensors, robotics and cloud-based tools to improve preparation and response efforts. However, these technologies lack the speed and ability to account for limitless variables needed for all phases of emergency management. Quantum computing is uniquely capable of addressing these variables, and research published in Nature has demonstrated its superior performance over classical computers. KPMG Canada reports that nearly 60% of Canadian organizations expect quantum computers to become mainstream by the end of the decade. Organizations are calling on the U.S. government to identify problems that could be solved by quantum computing.
