The Union government has taken a major policy decision to develop India’s quantum ecosystem by creating a quantum technology development fund of Rs 6,000 crore and establishing a National Mission on Quantum Technologies and Applications (NM-QTA). The mission aims to develop quantum processors, communication devices, memory devices, accelerators, and simulators, as well as quantum clocks, sensors, and imaging devices. To accomplish these goals, four thematic hubs (T-Hubs) will be established around major academic and national research institutions in the country. The goals of the mission are to develop quantum computers, satellite-based quantum communication, and create multiple quantum vital distributions (QKD) links for encrypted communication.
