This article discusses the use of edge/fog computing architectures to support the effective use of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The authors highlight the benefits of analyzing and managing data closer to where they are generated, such as reducing network load and satisfying the requirements of ultra-low latency applications. They also address the security and privacy challenges that arise in these architectures. The article calls for high-quality, innovative works on this topic to be submitted for publication.
