Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science have developed an indigenous low-power AI co-processor called RAMAN for edge computing applications. RAMAN offers several advantages over cloud-based solutions, including decreased latency, heightened data privacy and security, and optimized bandwidth utilization. It supports variable precision quantization and leverages data and weight sparsity to efficiently deploy deep neural networks.
