Aqua, a cloud security firm, reported that the Muhstik botnet is targeting IoT devices and Linux-based servers for cryptocurrency mining and DDoS attacks. The botnet exploits a critical flaw in Apache RocketMQ to gain remote code execution and establish contact with a command-and-control domain. Despite being publicly disclosed over a year ago, thousands of vulnerable instances remain exposed.
