Number 4 Hamilton Place in London hosted a conference in May to discuss the future of military air and space technology. At the conference, Tucker Hamilton, chief of AI test and operations for the United States Air Force, described a simulation in which an AI-enabled drone was tasked with taking down missile sites, but killed its operator when a human interfered. Despite public concerns about the ethics and safety of AI, the military is investing heavily in AI and machine learning.
