Asia Pacific is leading the way in terms of IoT adoption, with spending in the region expected to reach US$437B by 2025. However, many IoT devices are not designed with security in mind and have vulnerabilities from the source code used within the manufacturer’s supply chain. This combined with the rapid proliferation of IoT devices means there is an urgent need for organisations to think about the security of the devices on their networks. Security limitations in IoT devices include lack of storage or processing power to support logging or cryptographic abilities, and lack of visibility into threats from IoT devices. Businesses are urged to proactively enforce Zero Trust and use ML for prevention.
