Aparna Pappu, vice president and general manager of Google Workspace, spoke at Google I/O on May 10 about how Generative AI can help users explore their inboxes. Generative AI is poised to change the way people communicate via email, and machine learning is already being used to secure Gmail and detect phishing attacks. Machine learning can also be used to track down the perpetrators of phishing attacks and help with the recovery process in the event of a successful attack. Google is using machine learning to extrapolate intelligence from user reports to identify possible attacks and model the impact on users.
