This week, Google launched a range of new AI products at its annual I/O developer conference. These products range from a code-generating AI to an AI music generator, and some of them have the potential to be labor savers. Google also released a large language model, PaLM 2, which powers its Bard chat tool and other AI features. However, PaLM 2 has been found to respond to questions in toxic and biased ways, and the music generator is limited in what it can accomplish. There is also concern that AI will replace jobs, with 40% of workers familiar with OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot tool, ChatGPT, being worried about their jobs being replaced.
