Researchers from UC Santa Barbara and more than 20 other universities have been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to form the ACTION Institute, which will assess the opportunities and risks of rapidly evolving AI technology and its impact on the Department of Homeland Security’s missions. The institute will focus on developing novel and innovative approaches to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The grant is a strong indication of the cutting-edge and nationally renowned research that the Computer Science colleagues and collaborating universities are already conducting in this area.
