Generative Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) has been the focus of the tech and business worlds for months, especially the virtual chatbot ChatGPT and its ability to produce human-like text and decent code snippets. This has raised questions about whether this technology will create or destroy jobs, and its potential growth and disruptive nature are still being calculated. A recent article published by Goldman Sachs finds that the technology could raise global gross domestic product (GDP) by 7 percent, while a Gartner report finds these types of virtual chatbots will have a major impact on marketing and video content by 2025. At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, experts discussed the role of generative A.I. in the cybersecurity field, but questions remain about its impact on cybersecurity jobs and the skills gap. However, it was agreed that generative A.I. should be viewed as a useful tool for tech and security professionals that can augment cybersecurity work and help in the protection of data and networks.
