The cybersecurity landscape is evolving rapidly, and AI is a double-edged sword for cybersecurity companies. AI, ML, and automation will be used to accelerate cyberattacks, and companies will need to use the same AI techniques to defend against them. Phishing is one area where bad actors can take advantage of AI, as AI-generated phishing emails often look better than the real thing. According to Mimecast’s ‘State of Email Security 2023’ report, 55% of South African organisations are using some combination of AI and ML, with a further 38% saying they have plans to do so.
