Jeffrey Hinton, an award-winning computer scientist known as the Godfather of Artificial Intelligence, recently resigned from his high-profile job at Google to express his concern that uncontrolled AI development could threaten humanity. Hinton has helped pioneer AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, and his latest AI model, GPT-4, has sparked a six-month pause in AI development. Hinton’s biggest concern is that AI’s underlying technology features between 500 billion and 1 trillion connections, which is hundreds of times more than a single human. He believes that AI may already be smarter than humans, and this could pose a danger to humanity.
