Geoffrey Hinton, an award-winning computer scientist known as the “godfather of artificial intelligence,” recently resigned from Google to share his concerns that unchecked AI development could pose danger to humanity. Hinton and more than 1,000 researchers and technologists have called for a six-month pause on AI development due to its potential risks. Hinton’s biggest concerns are related to the neural networks that power AI models, which can have up to a trillion connections, making them potentially more intelligent than humans.
