The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) in the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has been in existence for about a year and momentum for AI technology has been steadily increasing. AI and machine learning are being adopted in military and aviation electronic systems, but must be done judiciously with attention to the return on investment and practicality. The 2022 National Defense Strategy addresses technology priorities of the U.S. as it works to meet the rapidly evolving domains of war.
