Microsoft Defender Antivirus was once considered inadequate for power users, but when Bitdefender retired its free antivirus solution in 2021, many turned back to Microsoft Defender. Microsoft 365 Defender is its enterprise-level security solution, which is a centralized extended detection and response (XDR) solution designed to secure on-premise and cloud-based environments. Microsoft is leveraging its developments in AI to improve past, current and future products, such as Cortana, which features natural language processing and uses the Bing search engine.
