Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), recently addressed a conference on Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Ethics, emphasizing the importance of Africa investing in AI technology and its responsible use. The two-day conference discussed topics such as AI in Healthcare, AI and Human Rights, AI Applications, and the Role of Afrocentric Datasets in Promoting Responsible AI in Africa. Multinational companies such as IBM Research, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have opened AI labs in Africa to help address the challenges of developing AI such as a lack of investment, talent, and access to research.
