Companies may be unknowingly increasing the risk of their data being compromised by storing large amounts of it in cloud repositories that are not well managed and do not adhere to modern data deletion standards. This data-hoarding mentality increases the “data attack surface” in the cloud, according to a new report from Blancco Technology Group. The report also found that more than half of the 1,800 data retention and data disposal decision makers surveyed already store more data than they need. To mitigate the risks associated with data hoarding, companies should ensure that their cloud repositories are well governed and adhere to modern data deletion standards.
