The Open Interconnect Consortium has launched IoTivity, an open source framework for the Internet of Things. The standard includes RESTful APIs and will be available in various programming languages for a variety of operating systems and hardware platforms. The consortium believes that an open source project combined with their standards efforts is critical for driving interoperability for the billions of IoT devices that will be coming online in the next few years.
