Vodafone has joined LF Edge as a Premier member and will be working on a new project called InstantX, which aims to exchange and distribute data in real-time between users in a certain geography through “far-edge” computing power. This partnership will help develop advanced networks for applications such as 5G, IoT, augmented and virtual reality, and autonomous vehicles. Vodafone will also have a seat on the project’s Governing Board and Technical Advisory Council, allowing them to shape the strategic direction of LF Edge projects and industry standards.
