Rigetti UK Limited and Oxford Instruments NanoScience have successfully completed a three-year project to build and operate one of the first quantum computers in the UK. The project, backed by funding from the UK government, aimed to accelerate the commercialization of quantum computing in the UK and advance practical applications in machine learning, materials simulation, and finance. The 32-qubit quantum computer was made available over the cloud to partners via Rigetti’s Quantum Cloud Services platform. The Quantum Software Lab and Phasecraft also contributed to the project by developing new ways to test quantum hardware and harnessing the system for near-term applications.
