Last year was a big year for data analytics and ML in the cloud, with Microsoft and Databricks both overhauling their platforms. Google scored customer wins with Walmart, HSBC, Vodafone, and Home Depot, and made additions and tweaks to its line-up. Google’s BigQuery got auto-scaling and compressed storage, while AlloyDB Omni offers PostgreSQL-compatible database services. Google already has what it needs to compete in the data platform market, according to Gerrit Kazmaier, veep and general manager of Google data analytics.
