Microsoft’s senior leadership team held a biannual strategy review to discuss the future of Xbox, the mid-gen Xbox Series refresh, and the future of the gaming business at Microsoft. The review included a discussion of Fortnite on xCloud, which was successful with 100k players within four hours of launch. Microsoft covered all of the streaming costs for Fortnite on xCloud, but was taking a 12-point margin on sales. The goal was to halve the cost of streaming by the end of 2025. Microsoft sees streaming as a key part of the future of gaming and is investing heavily in it.
