Amazon To Invest Up To $4bn In Ai Start-up Anthropic

Amazon is investing up to $4 billion in AI start-up Anthropic, in order to forge a close relationship with the company and get them to use its technology. The deal will see Amazon invest an initial $1.25 billion for a minority stake in Anthropic, and both companies will have the option to increase the total to $4 billion. Anthropic will use Amazon’s cloud computing platform and its dedicated AI chips to create its models. The start-up is one of the top competitors to OpenAI, and the deal marks Amazon’s latest push to capitalise on the excitement around generative AI.
