Mtn Fully Deploys 5g Standalone Core In Microsoft Azure

MTN Group, Africa’s largest mobile network operator, has carried out a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a first-of-its-kind 5G Standalone (SA) Core fully deployed in Microsoft Azure. The PoC was conducted to accelerate digital and cloud transformation, and to boost growth in Africa. Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform and service provided by Microsoft, offering a wide range of cloud-based services such as virtual machines, storage, databases, analytics, and machine learning. MTN Group is aiming to rollout 5G sites targeting a population coverage of 10%-30% in the medium term.
