Cisco has upgraded its line of 800G routers to support the rise of IoT, AI and ML. The new 28.8Tbps/36 x 800G line card is said to be up to six times more space-efficient compared with current offerings, and is powered by the Cisco Silicon One processor. This upgrade is expected to lower operational costs while protecting investments as networks evolve from 100G, 400G and 800G capacities, and customers are also said to benefit from carbon savings.
