The federal government of Nigeria recently launched a National Policy on Blockchain Technology and inaugurated an Implementation & Steering Committee to oversee its implementation. The policy was launched by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), to promote the adoption of blockchain technology in Nigeria and to position the country as a leading player in the global blockchain ecosystem. The policy is part of the National Digital Economy Policy & Strategy (NDEPS) for a Digital Nigeria and is intended to help implement the seventh pillar of the policy, ‘Digital Society & Emerging Technologies’.
