Ordinal inscriptions are a new type of non-fungible token (NFT) which have recently seen a surge in popularity. Metrics from Decrypt and Ark Invest show that the Bitcoin network can now support NFTs directly on-chain, thanks to two software upgrades. This has allowed users to inscribe images and other data in satoshis, the lowest denomination of Bitcoin. This new technology brings with it many opportunities to frame and make more accessible issues surrounding exponential innovation.
