Robotics has been around for years, but today we talk most volubly about the use of software robots, often called ‘bots’, as they now fit into a technology discipline known as Robotic Process Automation (RPA). RPA works best when tasked with handling accurately definable, continually repeatable and accurately measurable processes. RPA functions can be classified into two key areas: front-end and back-end deployments. Front-end RPA starts with basic ‘screen scraping’ and focuses on things that traditionally happen close to the User Interface (UI). Back-end RPA looks after everything from data integration to governance and managing cloud connections.
