Gen. Mark Milley, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair, has warned that armed forces must adapt to the rapid onset of artificial intelligence and quantum computing in order to remain competitive on the battlefields of the future. He believes that one-third of advanced industrial militaries of the world will be robotic in the next 10 to 15 years. Milley is likely to repeat his call for sustained modernization in a summer of speeches before his October 1 retirement.
