This article discusses the role of technology in the cultural and creative industries (CCI) in the fourth industrial revolution. It highlights the potential of 4.0 technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the internet of things (IOT), 3D printing (additive manufacturing), blockchain, cloud computing, drones and augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) to revolutionize the production, distribution and consumption of cultural and creative goods and services. The article also provides three main recommendations from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for developing nations to maximize the benefits of the industrial revolution technologies within the context of the creative economy.
