Nine MIT faculty members have been awarded 2023 Sloan Research Fellowships by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The honorees, representing the departments of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chemistry, Economics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics, will each receive a two-year, $75,000 fellowship to advance their research. Luca Carlone, the Leonardo Career Development Associate Professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a principal investigator in the MIT Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), is the director of the MIT SPARK Lab, which works at the cutting edge of robotics and autonomous systems research.
