AI and chatbots have been around for a while, but until recently, interactions with them have been largely devoid of pleasantries and stimulating conversation. However, tech giants have recently announced new public-facing AI tools that are designed to be more conversational and interactive. Amazon’s Alexa device was programmed to know the user’s favorite football team and respond with its own favorite, while OpenAI’s ChatGPT feature allows users to interact with its large language model by voice. Meta has also announced that its AI assistant will be integrated into existing services such as WhatsApp and Instagram.
