Kids Help Phone (KHP) and the Vector Institute are partnering to deepen and expand KHP’s evidence-based service delivery for young people across Canada. The partnership leverages AI to further develop service delivery at KHP by enhancing their e-mental health services to complement the skills and expertise of its dedicated frontline staff. KHP will use Natural Language Processing (NLP) to adapt to the way young people speak, allowing frontline staff to offer more precise services to young people based on their words, phrases, and speech patterns. KHP has the largest anonymous and aggregated youth mental health dataset in Canada and will use the Vector Institute’s expertise in safe AI to ensure its AI models are accurate, unbiased, fair and explainable.
