A new study has found that combining citizen observations, land cover data, and machine learning can improve the accuracy of temperature forecasts for heatwaves in urban areas. The study, led by the Met Office, showed an 11% improvement in temperature predictions and a 225x increase in resolution compared to standard forecasts.
