Spine Surgery Outcomes Better Predicted With New Machine Learning

Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have developed a machine learning method to predict recovery from lumbar spine surgery. The “Multi-Modal Multi-Task Learning” method takes into account multiple aspects of recovery and uses data from Fitbit wearables, ecological momentary assessments, and statistical tools to make accurate predictions.
